Today the TEG a local Federal Credit Union held an event called Building Connections and a variety of sessions where held. I wanted to attend all the events, unfortunately I had to choose two.
I chose "Get referrals. Build your business" presented by Christopher Jordan. I liked his suggestions as to how to asked for referrals and avoid the hard sell.
The next session I went to was about " The secret of credits" I was amazed at activities that many think will increase there credit score but had the opposite effect. An important point made was that some utility companies were now starting to report late payments. I really got a lot out of this presentation by Jeanne Kelly who operates a FICO Credit . You might have seen her on network news.
Next the president of the Credit Union Mr. Ronald Flarety introduced his team and told us about their mortgage product. I have never worked with them but I liked what I saw.
We had lunch, and the guest speaker Barbara Corcoran really held our attention. She used her life story to show us how it influenced her business life. I liked the point she made, you might fail at something but pick yourself up quickly, never give up. She told us someone told her she would not succeed without the assistance of that person. A negative statement can be a motivator, I could so relate.
Thanks to TEG Credit Union it was time well spent today.
