My wife Donna and I participated in our first walk to support Autism and I wanted too share the thank you message I got back. Please take a moment to read it. I couldn't have said it better, I hope it helps make people aware of the struggles and challenges some of our friends, family and colleages silently go through.

It's made us see how important and timely a smile or an encouraging statement can mean to so many and how rewarding it feels to give back.

James, we owe you a lot of thanks for coming out to Walk with us.

Running an event like Walk Now for Autism Speaks isn't always a simple task. Sometimes, we have inclement weather. Sometimes, we have last-minute changes of venue. Sometimes, there’s a problem.

But when it’s time for Walk day, and we see the sea of Walkers, all decked out in Autism Speaks t-shirts, hats, and swag, meeting new friends, catching up with old ones, and enjoying the day - well, we usually don’t mind the problems so much.

In many ways, that’s what Walk Now for Autism Speaks is all about. When you face the challenges that autism brings, it can feel difficult, and it can feel draining. Then there’s that moment – that one moment where you smile to yourself and know that it’s all worth it. It’s that moment that gives you the strength to go on.

We hope that, in participating with the Walk, you’ve been able to find one of those moments yourself.
