KITCHENS ARE IMPORTANT!!!

Probably one of the most expensive remodeling projects in your home is the kitchen. It is also generally the most time-consuming; however, there are a few things that you can do to minimize the time and labor spent on your kitchen remodeling project.

 

The one thing that you can do to increase the use of kitchen space while adding a bit of value to your home is by adding a kitchen island, which is very quickly becoming the norm for renovated kitchens.

 

With that being said, a kitchen with an island is imperative for many homebuyers when looking for homes for sale so it is essential that you take the time to install a kitchen island prior to placing your home on the market so that the kitchen space can be rejuvenated and appeal effortlessly to potential homebuyers.

There is more to a kitchen island than simply deciding to purchase and have one installed. You need to consider how you plan to use the space. Some kitchen islands are used primarily for extra counter space and under-counter storage space while others are used as a secondary cooking area with a cook top stove. Some homeowners even utilize a kitchen island for extra seating and eating – such as a breakfast bar. So, determine the need for your kitchen island and then go from there.

Once you have decided what you will use your kitchen island for, the next step is to determine where you will place the island and the appropriate size of the island. Both of these decisions will be based upon the above-mentioned factor: its use.

 

If you will be using your island as a breakfast bar for extra seating and eating space then you’ll likely prefer a long, somewhat narrow kitchen island or a two-tiered design may be up your alley – both of which are generally placed on the outside of your kitchen area. The latter design can be very convenient as it will provide an upper level for eating and a lower level that can be utilized for counter space, a stove and/or a sink.

 

If you plan to use your kitchen island to host your appliances and act as storage for your pot and pans then your island will likely be placed in the middle of your kitchen and will need to be large even to house all of your appliances such as your cook stove, microwave and/or sink.

If you are looking to add more storage room or eating space to your kitchen then a kitchen island is a great way to do so. Plus, when you look at the added benefits – such as an increase in your home’s value and the large attraction of buyers looking for homes for sale – a kitchen island is virtually a necessity in today’s day and age. After all, most homebuyers expect a beautiful home on the market to have an elaborate kitchen, which includes a convenient and useful kitchen island.
