Mission Valley, San Diego - The Land of Trolleys and Target

Mission Valley has a lot to offer.  I used to think that if I lived in San Diego it only made sense to live downtown or by the beach.  Like many things in life, I was wrong.  Dead wrong.  Mission Valley is in the center of it all.

Mission Valley has easy access to the San Diego Trolleys.  There is also a lot of shopping.  There are many strip malls.  My favorite stops are:  Target, Michael's Craft Store and the Corner Bakery.  Living in the Valley also places a resident right near but not on top off the freeways.  It is easy to get to I-8, I-15, I-5 and I-163.  Incidentally in Southern California the freeways are referred to as "The 8", "The 15", "The 5", etc.  Southern California has a lot of respect for their freeways.  I'm surprised that they don't have first names.

River Colony

A good buy is River Colony.  The HOA maintains the property well.  Occasionally there is a condo available for rent.  It is rare.  It is also rare for a condo to come up for sale.  People hang onto these homes.  The complex has aged well.  The residents that I have met appreciate living there and capitalize on the location.

Another plus to Mission Valley are the movie theaters.  First run movies are available at AMC.  Many movies are still best on the big screen.  The movies are surrounded by pleasant restaurants.  And unlike downtown there is plenty of parking.  I buy the tickets online first and then meet a friend for dinner.  After the dinner we head to the movies.  There is plenty of candy for dessert.
