It's St. Paddy's day not St. Patty's Day

Sunday is St. Patrick's Day, or shortened St. Paddy's Day.  "Each year, millions of Americans annoy the Irish by referring to St. Patrick's Day as St. Patty's Day. For the record, the correct short form is St. Paddy's Day.

According to the Provisional Government of Paddy, not Patty, the d's in Paddy come from the Irish spelling, Pádraig. Visit their site to be chastised in a proper Irish manner." ...from Grammar Girl, Quick and Dirty Tips, Paddy vs Patty

Irish Blessing

Patty, they say in Ireland is short for Patricia or a burger and neither would be confused with Saint Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland.

Also, green beer is an American tradition only.  The typical Irish beer is a very dark brown, think Guinness, and any green dye introduced would not be visible.  The typical American Bud, Coors, Miller and other such $%#&$# is easily influenced by color adaptations.

Have a great Irish weekend, drink responsibly and often.  I have to, my better half's maiden name is Murphy!
