Just Be Nice!

This is something I learned early I life.  I have heard it from several motivational type folks over the years and try to live it.  Sometimes it can be hard, if the person we are speaking about is particularly obnoxious.

As Realtors® we are in a business where we have to deal with people from all walks of lives and with all types of problems. We work with people who have tragedies in their lives and are in a time of change.  They may be dealing with anything from divorce, to death, to loss of a job.  We are there to help them and not add more stress to their lives.  The other professionals we are working with may not all be the nicest folks either. 

We have to deal with many who for lack of better words are emotionally or socially retarded.  At times, we have to deal with those who are less than honest.   To best serve our clients, we need to keep things moving forward and with as positive of an attitude as possible.  This will also keep our own reputations intact.

The best way to do that, is just be nice.  You don’t have to like the other person, but treat them the way the way you would like to be treated and just be nice.  A great way to diffuse a toxic situation at times is to kill them with kindness.  Being nice to someone you don’t like is not being phony.  It is being civil and professional. 

So my thought for day as repeated in a Patrick Swayze movie Road House, to his bartenders, ”Be Nice.”
