Selling Your Home is Like YOU "Going on an Interview"!
Just like YOU would put on your BEST CLOTHES, have your hair, skin, nails, resume JUST PERFECT ... the same hold true for SELLING YOUR HOME!
Each and every time you have a showing appointment on your home you must treat it like it's going up against BIG COMPETITION FOR THE JOB! It's no different because you are in fact competing against other very qualified candidates just like job interviewing.
So .. stand in front of your home and take a picture from near the street much like the angle of a prospective buyer driving by your home would see. Download it on your computer ... then sit back and look at it ... no, REALLY LOOK AT IT! Does it look like one that YOU would call your Realtor so you can see inside?
Here are a Few Helpful Tips:
- 1st Impressions are EVERYTHING
A freshly painted front door sends a message to potential buyers that there is pride of ownership here. A faded and chipped front door tells buyers this home has been neglected.
- Eye Catching Door Mat
Nothing too crazy or cute. Keep it simple and complement the exterior color palette. And, if you can’t decide, go with the classic black rubber, rod-iron-gate look. But remember ... "First Impressions are EVERYTHING!"
Are you one of the millions that have builder-brass garage fixtures? Hard to get enthusiastic about those. Make a statement with carriage lights or lanterns. Keep architectural style and scale in mind when making your selections. AND ... Turn your lights ON!! It's hard to notice a home that's not lit!
Door knockers, kick plates, doorbells, wall-mounted mail boxes all add presence. Draw attention to your beautiful entry with seasonal plants. Mother Nature is the best decorator. A large pot of in-season flowers add a great pop of color!
REMEMBER ... GET A HAIRCUT & SHAVE!
Seriously though ...
Have your lawn well cared for and manicured!
