Menu Monday; Village Inn Pizza Parlor

Today’s Menu Monday comes from Village Inn Pizza Parlor, located at 41 East 16th Street Yuma, Az and in its original location, Village Inn Pizza was thin crust pizza before we even knew what thin crust pizza even was. A pizza in its simplest form found in a classic wood trimmed pizza parlor, and a beer cooler that provides a sense of entitlement when you order your beer that is handed to you in a frosted mug, will begin to just wash away your day.

Village Inn Pizza Parlor still catches the eye of passersby when they look to see the name of the Birthday shout out on the marquee, an item that has set Village Inn Pizza Parlor apart from the others for years.  Days gone from when you would play “K.C. at Bat” in the back half of the parlor while waiting for your pie to be delivered to your table.

I can’t really say that they have any “real” secret to the pizza from Village Inn, but if I were to guess I am going to say the secret is in the ovens and the pans that have lasted the test of time. The ovens that have turned out so many pizzas throughout the years have cured themselves so well that I would suspect two slices of toast would come out heavenly from their ovens.

I recommend the half Hawaiian/peperoni pizza from the menu. The thin airy crust, beveled edges and smooth pizza sauce give flight to the tasty peperoni, the zing from the refreshing pineapple will bring your mouth to an ecstasy of delight from having so many flavors for your brain to process from just your first bite. Add some of their hot sauce and shredded cheese to the top of your slice and sit back and let yourself go. You’ll remember the memories you had their from when you were a kid, and the smirk on your face will remind you with every bite, that we are all still kids at heart!

Well, there you have it my friend. Until next week, enjoy the company your with, but best of all enjoy a great meal!

Ruben, I am really loving your Monday Menu blogs.  I like the one you had a week or so ago about the mexican restaurant that sounded so yummy.  And, I love pizza, who doesn't.  This place sounds great.  Road Trip!

Hi Jean,

Thank you. I believe that one of the pillars to any great city is the flavors that come out of the kitchens within the restaurants from those cities. I hope you make it to Yuma, and if so, pick any of these locations and tell them you read about it on Menu Monday!

Have a great week!
