I always have a hard time when the holidays are over and all of the lights and decorations are put away. Everything just seems so plain, However, I find that it is a nice time to spruce up my home for spring and summer. This can seem like a daunting job, so I try to take it one area at a time. Here are some tips that I have found helpful
Start in your front yard by trimming up bushes and planting colorful flowers. This improves the curb appeal and when I drive up makes me feel cheerful. Some other thoughts are put colorful pots by your front door, or paint your garage door. Once in the home, start with the path that company comes in. Clean your foyer and put down a new rug and update family pictures or frames.
For the rest of the home, steam clean carpets, tile and grout. Cleaning windows will let the sunlight in and increase the view of your yard. Remove old and unnecessary items from your home and donate them or have a garage sale. You may also find yourself repurposing some old items … give them a facelift and use them for something different. Not only will this save money, but they will be great conversation pieces.
