What's For Dinner Tonight?

What's For Dinner Tonight?

That is the question I hear every afternoon from the kids. Or, to be more accurate, they really want to know: "When is dinner?", or "How long 'til dinner?", or "Can we have pizza????"

Tonight I am making Thai steak on soba noodles with green salad. I'll hear complaints from my youngest for sure--I usually do. Looking back over the meals I've made for the last month, (I write them down in a calendar book), I see we've had quite a variety. Here is what I have made for dinner every night for the past month:

March 1st:

Baked Tilapia al Forno, arugula salad, and baked millet an quinoa pilaf

March 2nd:

Slow cooked beef minestrone, spiced pound cake

March 3rd:

Leftovers

March 4th:

Home made sloppy Joes, roasted baby carrots with orange-vanilla finishing butter

March 5th:

Herb marinated grilled pork chops, roasted yams

March 6th:

Carribbean chicken, green salad, orange wedges

March 7th:

Chicken stir-fry

March 8th:

Baked haddock, harvest veggies, coleslaw

March 9th:

Leftovers

March 10th:

Slow cooked beef minestrone (again)

March 11th:

Pan seared tilapia, roasted broccoli

March 12th:

Jambalaya

March 13th:

Home made chili con carne with cheddar scallion bisquit topping

March 14th:

Whole wheat spaghetti with tomato basil sauce, green salad, garlic bread

March 15th:

Pan seared scallops with vegetables and quinoa

March 16th:

Pizza ("Finally!", the kids said.)

March 17th:

Corned beef and cabbage, baked fish, pasta and bread crumbs

March 18th:

Home made vegetable soup, lentil & brown rice salad

March 19th:

Chicken Marsala, roasted Brussels sprouts

I'd better get started on tonight's dinner--just heard one of the kids ask: "What's for dinner and when are we eating?"

Janelle, My wife just asked me tonight, what's for dinner? It's a left over/frozen entree night. Fend for yourself night. Doesn't look like you too a night off all month. Great job!

Thanks Rob. I've found that being organized saves me time shopping and cooking. Have a great day!

Mark-Sounds like you're the cook in your family, and, judging from your photo, that's not too surprising. Have a great day!

Li-I'm hoping people will try some of the recipes, especially the vegetable dishes. Many are from Wegmans, a regional supermarket, and include ingredients some people may not have access to, but you can always substitute.
