How to Create a Blooming Headboard

Staging a bedroom without all the proper furniture can be a challenge, but challenges seem to foster creativity.

Here’s one idea that Front Porch Interiors selected for a headboard that is blooming with possibilities.

Glass wall vases are springing up everywhere. These particular ones are from Arhaus (www.arhaus.com).

I really love how they add not only color, but also dimension to the wall as opposed to a flat headboard. Here's what the bedroom of this home looked like before:

-- after --

We chose orchids with a deep purple throat to pull in more of the accent color, but there are as many alternatives as there are species. So take your pic. Consider your color palette – yellow forsythia, green ferns, blue hydrangeas, orange gerbera daisies...

Just as fun is what type of filler you pick. Moss, rice, split peas, coffee beans, small sea shells – all another opportunity to add a dose of color to complement your décor.

Try picking a few yourself and send me a pic. Lets see what's bloomin' on your headboard .

Ha. I had to check out a post called Bloomin' Headboards!  Gorgeous stuff.  I love orchids the best. I've never seen glass wall vases above a bed before.

Kim, They look great!  I saw glass vases mounted on walls like bathrooms or small foyers, where there is not a lot of space for artwork.  However you made this idea really work here.  Good work! :)

Hi Sabrina, you're right. It really doesn't take much. Just putting a fresh spin on it.

Brad, Orchids are one of my favorite florals to stage with - so elegant and structural.

I love the idea of displaying them in a powder room, too Berni. Great suggestion.

Good morning Kim!

What a great idea.  You've got me thinking now.

We were considering Springs Orlean's yesterday.  I haven't had a chance to try Noshes yet.   I've heard great things about it.

Hi Sondra, Nosh has some great small plates - fun to pass around with a group. Awesome sweet potato fries.

Thanks Sharon. They just seem to say spring!

Great idea! So cute....are these vases hanging on a hook that was mounted with just a small nail? Just trying to get a feel for what size hole is there to patch after removing them.

Thank you, Julia, Susan and Debra. I'll come by your blog to say Hi.

Thanks, Shar. Those vases have a free form hole at the top, so each of them vary a little on size, but I use monkey hooks because they have a little lip on the end that keeps everything secure - plus the hole is tiny. Unfortunately, they only work with drywall - so if you have plaster or a stud, nails at a 45 degree.
