wellesley collegeWellesley is full of fun things to do on a night out or for a family activity. Whether you're looking for an area that offers cultural activities, recreational opportunities or historical sites, this is the place that has it all. When you live here, you'll benefit from so many community resources and natural beauties.

Visit Wellesley College

Wellesley College was built in 1870 and has beautiful landscaping, architecture, greenhouses and theaters that you can visit. The buildings are mostly of the contemporary and gothic style and the campus is home to Lake Waban. You can take the two-mile walk around the lake or kayak, canoe or sail on the lake. The Davis Museum and Cultural Center has free admission and offers visitors a chance to see and learn about art from a variety of time periods.

Participate in Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend Festivities

Every Memorial Day the town of Wellesley celebrates with a parade and well-known fireworks show. The show draws about 10,000 people who all come to celebrate, play at the fair and listen to music. Some of the weekend's activities include a scavenger hunt, tours, a dog competition, kids craft centers and a movie night, a gardeners' fair and a picnic in the park.

Go to the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra

If you're a music lover, the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra is for you. The group was founded in 1948 and plays family concerts and genres like classic and pop. Some of the more famous composers the group performs music from include Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Brahms. The group also hosts a young soloist's competition for youth under the age of 18.

Stroll the Walter Hunnewell Arboretum

The Walter Hunnewell Arboretum has more than 500 species of woody plants covering a 22-acre area. The property is a former estate, dating back to 1843. The original estate owner, whom the arboretum is named after, planted species from around the world and had more than 2,000 trees imported from England to include in his gardens. The rhododendrons here are thought to the oldest of their kind in the United States.

Right next to this site, across Lake Waban, are the Wellesley College Botanic Gardens, another beautiful destination.
