The Buskers are Back!

The Buskers are back in San Diego this weekend. What is a Busker? Well it is a term assigned to street entertainers. Have you ever heard of Cirque du Soliel? Well, they started out as street entertainers, stilt walkers. Look at them now, some of the most athletic and artistic shows on the planet. Bet you wish you could just throw a buck in the box to see them entertain. Actually you will need to fork over about a hundred of those bucks per person for their amazing artistry and acrobatic performances and after the show it will seem like a bargain at the price.

Buskers at Seaport Village

This young guy has amazing balance and strength and performs as though it is effortless. He is also part of a team of performers that do other amazing and skillful balancing acts.

Each year in the early Spring, the Buskers are back in San Diego for two days of performances at Seaport Village on the San Diego Bay. The cost? a few dollars in tips. What do you get for the money, entertainment and an education in what the human body can do with years of training and discipline.

So if you are of a mind to be impressed, come on out to see things that will impress you for the talent, artistry and sheer strength. Sounds like I just described Cirque du Soliel. Well many of their performers started out in these very same type Busker festivals. And now you know what Buskers are.

I used to see a lot of these guys when I lived in Chicago. I really saw some amazing talents there at times. I did not however, know that they were in fact Buskers. So once again, I learned something new in the rain.

I have not heard of that word buskers before but I'm glad I learned it from you today! Coincidentally, while waiting for the traffic light to change at a busy intersection in Flower Mound yesterday, there were several buskers entertaining the people stuck in traffic. As it turns out a group of teenage boys were throwing some gymnasts up in the air and the girls were doing flips and tricks in mid air. Every time a girl did that I thought to myself..... ooh, ahh.... if that was my girl I'd kill her for doing that without a net!
