Absolutely! Adding fresh neutral color to your home can turn a dated or even newer home into competition to the model next door. OK maybe that can be pushing it in some cases. But you would be surprised how much a difference fresh paint can help.
Lighter more soft colors can make a small hallway or bedroom look even larger. Choosing colors close to the furniture colors can also make room look roomier. Where as a warm darker color can bring out strong features of a home.
If you are going to add color in rooms look at what are trends in colors in your area. Some homes are getting more deeper greens and blues for example in living spaces.
There are programs like that from Sherwin Williams called Color Visualizer where you can test their colors out on picture of your own room or existing sample rooms they have .
Finally I suggest if you are not a good painter, hire a professional. Your back and arms will thank you, your wife will thank you for no mess ups and you will have time to work on other need areas of the home to help it sell better (I will cover that in latter chapters too).
