Realtors..... I Challenge YOU!

By
Real Estate Agent with North Kansas City Real Estate, Reece and Nichols Residential

You've all read and have seen that ole' blue eyes (aka Jeff Turner) is serious about moving forward on this RainforChange.com Initiative to try and give back in some way to help change the face of poverty.

Personally I've worked in the my local community and brought many together embracing various topics like  race, religion, ethics, the digital divide, addiction, sexual orientation and suicide prevention.

(V8 Slap on my forehead, that's not in my profile!! DUH)

It's going to take all of us...and we need to make a committment.

I am committing a minimum of 2 hours a week, and one can get a lot done in two hours!  It may not sound like a lot to you and if it doesn't ... shame me and sign up for more. :)

But I am challenging each and everyone of you, no matter how busy you are to electronically commit to at least ONE hour a week to this project.

If we all give back a little something, we could all possibly see the world become a better place.

Reply here with your Challenge Committment only so ole' Blue Eyes can keep track of who's willing to give some sweat equity to change the face of poverty.

Fran - that is great that you are encouraging everyone here to help out with Jeff's project.  I also see so much incredible potential and we are such a power house here in AR.

Fran, I have to admit while I'm all for this project I'm still fuzzy on the details. Jeff wrote:

  • Renter Content: rent to own strategies, good tenant plans, renter marketing.
  • Builder Content: working with builders to encourage low income projects
  • Local Government & Association Content: how to be an advocate for the impoverished
  • Education Programs Content: for existing community groups, for broker sponsored events, for elementary and high school classrooms.
  • I need a larger, broader more colorful explanation on how I can help my (all)  community. Any thoughts?

Fran, if you don't mind my answering Dena... your question is exactly why this method of discussion is so important. We all need to give this an even more solid definition, and direction. John Novak wrote, "I'm wondering if 'poverty' is too broad. The four bullet points all tend toward 'affordable housing' which is something I think we can really put a laser focus on." And I agree with him. That gets even close to how we as a group and you as an individual can help. Getting people to home ownership makes a significant impact on the cycle of poverty. So, focusing our energy related to poverty on topics, addressed as ideas to professionals and advise to consumers, that focus on affordable housing makes a ton of sense.
