Google + Twitter = Super Tuesday Political Conversation Watch

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with RealSatisfied

I'm More Interested In This Election Than Any Election In My Adult Life.

Perhaps that influences this post a bit, but I'm intrigued by today's Google, Twitter and Twittervision mashup that allows for "near" real-time monitoring of the conversations on Twitter that are centered around the Super Tuesday elections. This 60 second video will serve as an illustration when the day is over:

I'm intrigued by this application of the technologies and can't help wondering how it will be used in other arenas. No topic is out of reach, but these very time sensative conversations will certainly be the focus of other events like this.

Even if you're not on Twitter, you can check out the Super Tuesday conversations here.

Jeff - It does make me wonder how this age of instant information is shaping history.  In some ways it's a great advantage.  In some instances, it seems that we'd be wise to take a moment to think things through before spitting it out for posterity.  What we put on the web is permanent.  We may forget what we say, but it will always be there for others to read in the future.

It will be very interesting to see the strategies that candidates use during the conventions and in November to leverage platforms like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc. to get out the vote. Between the combination of technology use and all of the rhetoric about change, this election may well be known as 'the digital revolution.'

Jeff - Thanks for sharing.  I most certainly agree that this election is much different from the previous ones.  It's amazing how big of a machine a campaign requires.  Candidates cannot afford to ignore any media.  I'm sure it requires many full time staffers just to monitor what's going on with the competition.

Jeff,

...I though you were off Twitter...

This whole scenario makes me wish I had a good .mobi domain-and the money to by some of that beachfront bandwidth that went up for sale!

Obeoman... I got sucked back in before NAR and found that while I was away, the RE.net had exploded and so had the rest of the tech community. The light turned on when I stopped trying to find a B2C angle for real estate agents.

AJ... here is a good piece on Twitter: http://www.web-strategist.com/blog/2007/12/11/some-conversations-have-shifted-to-twitter/

And another: http://www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/twitter-guide-1-what-is-twitter/

Marlene... you are right, of course. Some on Twitter tonight are already bemoaning the misfires on calling races that are happening at the speed of light.

Ken... thanks for the link.

Jay... I'll see you on TwitPic. :)

"Yes We Can" "What You Focus on Expands" at My Caucus last night the results in my Precinct (neighborhood) was 89 Obama 32 Hillary which is the way Colorado went  2 - 1 for Obama or 79,000 for Obama and 38,500 for Hillary.

That type of integrated, instant communication will be an effective tool for commerce as technology becomes more embraced by larger numbers of people -  Neat stuff.

@ResPres, @Daltonsbriefs here ... (I couldn't help it) I watched, and commented, and enjoyed it so much that I posted more than I did on Super Bowl nite.  Now like you, I maintain a couple different profiles now and was using my more prolific political profile instead of my RE.net one.

But, amazingly, I got overloaded and had to walk away for the last 24 hours.

By the way, traffic to my political sites has increased very nicely thanks for twitter as well.  Not so much on the real estate sites, so far we are all tending to still use 2006 methods for finding each other in this industry.  No, I know we chat on twitter, but not much jumping off to the links and going deep so far in my experience.

Now that Super Bowl ads thing was a blast!  Commenting live on all those ads was more work than watching that great game!

Terry,

You are totally right about that, it's pretty unreal to see that firsthand, isn't it?

This was interesting Jeff.  There are so many ways of connecting.  Twitter is re-defining what that means and what we're connecting about.

Twitter is definitely helping us all move more quickly into and out of conversations.  Mash-ups then allow us to see what we really can't do on our own
