Bay Bridge Series Starts Today with A's at Giants' ATT Park

With today's start of the "Bay Bridge Series," it got me thinking how news worthy all of our Bay Area bridges are lately.

While the Iconic Golden Gate celebrates a 75 year anniversary, and just this week retired all toll takers for electronic toll collection

moving us that much further into the automated future, the Bay Bridge is now decked out with a twinkling led art installation which you can see here:

I've yet to take the Friday night Blue and Gold cruise to get a good look, but it's on my list.

And then there is the eastern span of the Bay Bridge, due to open in in just 158 days, with an opening event scheduled for September 2nd.

Of course we're always celebrating something in San Francisco, the Port is celebrating 150 years of operation with events kicking off in April.

Melanie, I saw a piece about this on the news last night.  Talk about the end of an era!

I've been looking forward to the new span opening for quite a while now Melanie. WOW 1989 was a long time ago. The Devils Slide Tunnel was also just opened. It's nice to see these projects coming to fruition and some better commutes an well as new Bay Area Landmarks for all to enjoy!!!

Best ~ Doug

The toll takers and regular commuters were a bit ver-klempt, Patricia! Personally, I can't wait for my self-driving Google car. Yes, thanks for the Devils Slide Tunnel reminder, Doug. I'm happy that Jerry Brown made a stink to get a design worthy of the Bay's intrinsic beauty, and happy to see the old span go.

We love traveling for vacation to the bay area and I think there is interest in other areas of the country in things such as the famour bridges in your area.
