I Did Get Healthy in the Rain- Part 3

 

We started this in February 2013, and we all made resolutions as to what to do to get on track and be healthier. The whole idea was to make some healthy life changes and I posted 10 habits to try and modify.

 

 

Goals: My ten goals were- Sleep more, cut out most junk food, eat more veggies and fruits, eat breakfast every morning, weight in on the first day, cut out most sugary foods, exercise daily, drink water daily, no snacks after 8:00 pm and journal daily. Well, I did 81/2 things out of 10. I did not journal daily and about half the time I did have a snack after 8:00 pm but it was usually a couple of small tangerines.

 

Goals Met: To sum it up I have made some great changes in my life, and most have become habits. I now really like to eat breakfast every morning and water has become a daily habit. I now order iced water when I go out to eat at night instead of tea or soda and think how much money I am saving here as most restaurants charge $3 for a soda. Speaking of making changes, all the nutritionists say salads are not really healthy as they have fatty dressings so I have been ordering tomatoes or green beans as a substitute. I walk daily with my dogs and that makes them happy.

 

Weight Loss:I have lost 15 lbs in 60 days so that is good and my clothes are looser plus I feel 200% better than I did.

 

A New Goal- My dogs are happy as they get to go for evening walks and now I am working on my husband to get him to go walking with us.

Hi Brad,

I appreciate you stopping by and supporting me. I have developed some good habits like eating breakfast, drinking 8-10+ glasses of water daily and eating fruit as my evening snack. When I over eat, I feel stuffed and so i usually order the light plates now without a lot of carbs.

Hi Connie,

We park further from the stores or at the airport so we walk more and I am determined to get him out walking the dogs with me. He has a bad shoulder that he had surgery on but he can walk our 5 lb chihuahua and I have a special leach for the other two together. They can be a handful.

Thanks so much for the kind words and i do intend to keep up the good work. It is getting pretty warm here so soon I am going swimming back and forth in the pool. I bought a small paddle board and it makes it easy to swim. Have a great week.

I used to be a marathon runner and went to the gym 3-4 times a week plus yoga classes but in the last couple of years I just got busy and lazy at exercising so I am back on track. Thanks for stopping by.

Good for you. Habits, both good and bad, take time to form (though I admit that bad habits seem to form easier and stronger...), but things don't move in a straight line. It's very difficult with health-related improvements to not experience setbacks. Our commitment levels are what separate us in our ability to reach goals. If you're having an 85% success rate, you are doing great and should be highly encouraged by it. Keep up the excellent work!

Congrats on the healthy changes! 15 lbs in 2 months is great. Especially since you are not starving yourself or doing anything radical. Just a few tweaks. Love how you didn't go extreme on anything. Even allowing yourself the occasional junk food. I've been doing a similar plan and have lost 13 lbs. Keep up the great work!

Well then I can say congrats to you too. I just got through peeling a couple of tasty tangerines and even my dogs like them. It replaces some pie or cake I used to eat about 9:00 pm so fruit is a great option. Yum I am going to have a few grapes now. Happy Thursday almost.

Yes it is pretty much habit now to substitute fruits for desserts, order lite plates at the restaurants, and eat breakfast/drink water daily. I still fudge sometimes. Oh....bad word as it makes me think of chocolate fudge.

Well I am sure healthier and I forgot to mention I now take calcuim and vitamins daily so that is a plus too. I bought the chewy calcium as I used to think it tasted like liking a rock. Now it has a nice citrus taste. Yum.

I journaled for years and kept the books but now I just count the calories and fat grams in my head and can tell by looking at the size now but I think journaling is important as you cannot slip up if you are true. Thanks for stopping and i will check out that website. Have a great Thursday.

Hi Debi,

Great profile photo with your dog. I think a lot of us are all on the same type of diet. We don't want to starve but just cut back and eat healthier. I really enjoy exercising and have started doing yoga again as it relaxes me and I fall asleep sooner. Thanks for the kind words Debi.
