Become a Clean, Mean, Fighting Machine! Tips for Your Spring Cleaning!

It's that time of year! Spring has always been the season that brings lots of "ups and downs" for me. On the positive... The birds start chirping, everything comes back into bloom and there is a new brightness in my day that just seems to make everything a little easier. On the downfall...I have to adjust to daylight saving, we still suffer from "Colorado weather" (fakes me out every time) and yes... the dreaded Spring Cleaning.

I've always been good at keeping my home very neat and tidy... things are picked up and put in its place. However, I have never been one to "deep clean" which is something I usually end up regretting come time to prepare for guests or to move. I wanted to share a few tips and tricks I have found along the way to make your spring cleaning a little easier and enjoyable.

1. Clean like you are going to move! I wish I had the motivation to do this more often.  Have you ever gone to move or remodel part of your house, and as your are moving things out of the closet you think “I’ve been looking for this for 6 months!”  Yup, that is always me.  I can never find what I’m looking for, end up buying another and by the time we are in a new location, I’ve come to find out I have at least three of the same thing.

2.  Start with one room COMPLETELY and move on.  Finish what you start in one place and don’t jump around.  This will avoid missing important details.

3. Make it fun!  Put on some good music, open the windows, enjoy the sunshine.  Heck, treat yourself to a milkshake or a cocktail after!  If you really want to show off your spick and span home, plan a dinner party!  Invite friends over for a BBQ and enjoy as they “ohhh and ahhhh” about how your home always looks so put together.  Knowing that you will be hosting an event in the near future may motivate you to get the job done even quicker.

And most importantly… STICK WITH IT!  You put all of this time and effort into cleaning your home, keep up with the clutter and hopefully the experience will not be as dreadful when next spring comes around. I know that is my ultimate goal!

I hope you’ve found these tips helpful and motivating… if you really need some step-by-step guidance with your spring cleaning print off my “ultimate Spring Cleaning checklist” located on my website.  If you have other tips and tricks you’d like to share, please comment!  I’d love to hear how others take on this tedious task.

Getting your home all tidied and realize… you’re ready to sell?  You need more room?  Contact me!  I’d love to meet your real estate needs soon!

Happy cleaning and cheers!
