As I sit here at the office this morning answering the phones, I have been reading a lot of posts about Easter and memories of Easters past. This got me thinking about Easters with my family and some fond memories.
My earliest memory of Easter was either Kindergarten or 1st grade. I remember coming into our school class room and there was white paint spilt on one of the tables and rabbit tracks heading in different directions off the table. The teacher had hidden small baskets for us throughout the room for us to find. That was a long time ago.
Both of my children were born in early April, so every so often, their birthday fell on Easter. They always felt special to have an Easter egg hunt on their birthday. Now that they are in their 20's, we no longer do egg hunts, but they still get Easter baskets.
A recent commercial talked about buying new shoes for Easter. That sparked memories of dressing my kids up for Easter. My daughter would always have to have a new dress, which also included white gloves, frilly white socks and white shoes. My son would want a new shirt and tie. Then there was always the pictures before or after church and hopefully the azelas were blooming so that it would make a good backdrop.
Things have changed over the years, but some things remain. That includes having both kids home for the weekend and spending time together. Tomorrow, we will get up and go to church as a family and have lunch together. Then they will both be off in different directions getting ready for next week. But, hopefully, before they head off, I can get a picture of them together.
Here's wishing you a great Easter weekend, and I hope it triggers some fond Easter thoughts...
