Do You Share Too Much Personal Stuff On The Internet?

Do you post your every move on Social Media channels? Did you know thieves use the internet to learn your habits and to predict when you are away from home? What a perfect setup for a robbery. Be smart and don't tell your every move on the internet where you can be taken advantage of.

Thanks to Gary Woltal for making us stop and think.

Sharing Too MuchToday's thought to ask yourself....

Do You Share Too Much Personal Stuff On The Internet?

I think this goes beyond some photos of events in your life on Facebook, Google Plus, Instagram and Twitter. REVEALING a little too much in depth with THE PUBLIC about many things in your life that should remain private.

Your mental state, your physical condition, your political or religious or world views, your love life, your financial state, your photos of when you are AWAY from your home, your address, family info.

Giving all the information away TO THE PUBLIC is generation correlated with MORE information given away seemingly without thought the younger you are. Did you know, the 20-29 age group has the HIGHEST identity theft with those OVER age 65 the lowest risk for the crime?

I do think with blogging and social media we almost have let the genie out of the bottle and EVERYTHING is shared nowadays BY MANY "without thinking" ahead of time DON'T SEND THIS. I mean look at the horrible stories with sexting of nude photos by teenagers and suicides from guilt later on.

The rule is YOU BE YOU, and be comfortable with YOUR level of openness on the Internet. You can't control what others want to do.

I share some personal staff: my kids successes and family big events. Yet, I never share details of my personal life: relationship. I'm open to tell the world who I am: my pain and joy, but it is rather general, no details.

Inna, Good way to do it. A good litmus test is if you post it and it ends up on the front page of the newspaper are you good with that? Everything I post passes the test.

You are so right Debbie, I do not share too much information online.  It is dangerous.  I see how some people can get carried away they just want to share their thoughts when they sit alone at the computer but they are not alone when the information is there for all to see.

Nicely put Merline, they are not really alone if it is going out into the world for all to see.
