How Can I Inexpensively Increase A San Jose, Calif. Home's Curb Appeal?
by Michelle Carr Crowe, Cupertino real estate agent selling San Jose homes
You can dramatically improve your Silicon Valley home's curb appeal with these 3 tips: de-clutter, clean & brighten. Think of your home's exterior as a present. You want a buyer to be so excited about the exterior they can't wait to see the inside.
1) De-Clutter: Remove anything that doesn't add to the right image of your home. Sell junk cars-or at least arrange to park them elsewhere. Get a dumpster and throw out anything that doesn't work or add beauty to the yard.
2) Clean: Professionally power wash your home, gutters, walkways, driveways and sidewalks. If it's a corner home, power wash the entire corner. Do not do it yourself. Yes, you DO want your home to look better than the neighbors.
3) Brighten: Touch-up (or change) trim & door color and add flowers, bark and rocks to finish and frame the exterior. Think BIG plants, not little ones. You are looking for impact. Five blossoming boughianvillea properly placed can make a huge difference in the effect. Colorful (not white) hanging plants make for a cheerful look.
Sometimes a home needs new sod, decorative fencing or other exterior staging to create the desired effect. However, the three tips above will definitely increase the curb appeal of San Jose, Calif. homes for sale.
Remember, the exterior of your home is an invitation to potential buyers-make sure it is fresh, clean and welcoming.
