The fifth annual Tents in Town urban campout is set for this Saturday, April 6th, and will benefit the improvement and expansion of Bellaire Town Square. Patrons for Bellaire Parks and the City of Bellaire Parks and Recreation Department are co-hosting the event.
Campers are encouraged to be creative and decorate their tents. The event includes S‘mores and ice cream and local band “Strange Days” will be returning with a song list of crowd-pleasing favorites. There will be a tug of war and the ever-popular hula hoop contest. Other activities includeremote control race cars, face painting with Honeydew the Clown, family camping photos, three huge inflatable games, and a climbing wall. The Nature Discovery Center will be there with a display of their own. The Optimist Club of Bellaire will be grilling and campers can explore a Bellaire police cars, fire truck, and ambulance. Once the sun goes down, see the stars and planets through huge telescopes, courtesy of Houston Astronomical Society volunteers.
Registration is open now. Walk-up registrations will be accepted day of event only if space is available. Check in 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 6 near the Gazebo in Bellaire Town Square, Zindler Park. Depart by 10 a.m. Sunday, April 7. Early registration will end on Tuesday, April 2 with late registration going into effect on Wednesday, April 3.
The cost to attend includes the campsite, dinner (choice of hamburger, hot dog, chicken nuggets), s‘mores, ice cream, live entertainment, all activities and games, event T-shirts and Sunday morning breakfast, with cocoa for the kids and Starbucks coffee for the grownups.
Tickets are $50 per 12 x 12 campsite, $25 each adult, $15 each child. Late registration (beginning April 3) is available, but will be $70 per campsite, $35 per adult and $25 per child.
