Bellaire officials and residents hope to have a new ~$675,000 great lawn and pavilion at Bellaire Town Square by the end-of-the year.
The Bellaire Town Square Multi-Purpose Great Lawn Construction Project includes construction of a pavilion and landscaping work to create a multipurpose lawn area to be used for community events. It is one of a multi-phased approach of the Bellaire Town Square Master Plan. Other phases included the Aquatic Center, Donor Plaza and Loftin Park.
Several events that you've read about on my blog occur in Town Square. Events include the Fourth of July celebration, Tents in Town and Holiday in the Park.
The design was chosen in 2012 and ties nicely into the project phases which preceded the Great Lawn which will be located in the area behind city hall to the tennis courts and recreation center. It will be defined by an elliptical concrete path and anchored by the donor plaza and gazebo on one end and a new, elevated performance pavilion on the other.
As if the Bellaire Town Square did not have enough to offer, by 2014, our great city will be hosting live performances, taking the offerings of Bellaire to the next level.
