Stamford CT is home to many great things. We have shopping, theatre, corporations and great dining. Of course, I'm a bit biased because I'm a native so I'd like to think I have the inside track. So I was thinking if I were a newbie coming to town with family, wouldn't it be great to have a list of the top ten places to eat in town on any budget?
And my answer was "yes". So here goes, my top ten places for child-friendly dining in Stamford CT 06902
Picante (Bedford Street)- This is an absolute favorite -they have a "Wall of Salsa" with over 10 different types of salsas. The salsa flavors range from "mild" to "OMG - what was I thinking when I put this on my chip". The Fajita burrito is excellent and the chips are great. They even have Grape Ne-hi soda. All food is fresh and made to order. While parking on Bedford Street is metered...you can park behind the store and get your parking stub validated! Oh, BTW they also delivery! How Awesome is that?
Wedge Inn (Summer Street)- I absolutely love their chili dogs and French fries. It's comfort food and to top it off you can get dessert at the Dairy Queen next door. A vanilla soft ice cream dipped in chocolate anyone?
Royal Guard Fish and chips (Shippan Avenue)- this has been an old favorite of mine. We've gotten accustomed to fish and chips on Friday, made right before your eyes.
Cosi's (at the Stamford Town Center), whether you're in the mood for soup or salads. This is the place for you. Their ultimate-grain bread is healthy and if you want a treat - order the "make your own smores for 4" and toast your own marshmallows.
Morton's - good for that special birthday celebration. They actually print out personalized menus for your party with the birthday gal/guy's name on them and will take a group picture to memorialize the event.
McDonalds (I-95 Exit 9) on the top of the hill, is very convenient if you have children as they are one of the few restaurants in town with drive-thru....
Atlantic Pizza- (Atlantic Street) this is a great alternative to making dinner on Wednesday evening. They deliver and they are quick and reasonably priced. Having large crowd? Order 5 pizza pies and and you get one free pie.
Lucky's - think Happy Days minus "The Fonz". You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner at this eatery. I especially like it during the warm months when you can eat outside on their patio and people watch. You'll always see someone you know, while you are eating dinner.
International house of pancakes aka I-Hop - You might have missed International Pancake day on the 5th of February. But I-HOP is always a favorite where I can have pancakes, someone can have chicken nuggets and another can have fajitas. Everyone is happy!
California Pizza Kitchen - A great place where Mom and Dad can have a glass of wine with penne pasta, but yet daughter and son can still enjoy a pizza and hot fudge sundae. If you join their birthday club, the birthday girl/boy gets dinner on the house. Great parking at the Stamford Town Center ($0.50 gets you 3 hours). Great desserts!
Wait staff at the restaurants are friendly and always willing to lend an extra hand. Interested in finding other kid-friendly events and happenings around Stamford CT?
