WHY ARE HOA COVENANTS AND RESTRICTIONS IMPORTANT IN HOWARD COUNTY?

Almost all buyers ask why do they have to live in a newer neighborhood that has HOA covenants and restrictions.  They want to be able to do anything they want with the exterior of the house without applying for permission from an HOA.  What they don't see is that these same covenants and restrictions protect their property values.  Their neighbors can't store wrecked cars in the driveway.  They can't paint their house hot pink.  They cant sell beer on the front porch.  They have to cut the grass and maintain the property.  These are all things that help with property values.  With some restrictions come many rewards!
