Last night, before a sellout crowd of 5018 in the Qwest Arena in downtown Boise, The Idaho Steelheads hockey club called on one of the young men from my office to fill the net against the Phoenix Roadrunners. The Idaho Statesman tells it this way
"Blair Allison said he's not ready to give up his job selling real estate, even though his part-time gig was pretty fun Friday night.
Allison, serving as the Steelheads' emergency goalie, was forced into action at the beginning of the second period and didn't allow a goal as Idaho rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Phoenix RoadRunners at Qwest Arena. " more...
Blair is currently a REALTOR in the Coldwell Banker Aspen Realty Boise office on Emerald Street. He has been a regular Steelheads goalie in the past, playing three seasons from 2001-2 through 2003-4. The fans still remember and love him too, as was evidenced by the hearty cheering when he took the net at the start of the second period. The fans sitting around us at the game where calling him by name, shouting encouragement, and cheering for him throughout the second and third periods, as he made a number of saves and held the Roadrunners scoreless. This enabled the rest of the Steelies to tie up the game, and with a couple minutes left in the game they scored the winning goal. At the final buzzer, all of the Steelheads surrounded Blair in the goal to congratulate him, and he was given the honor of being third star of the night.
The goalie for tonight's game at the arena will not be announced until gametime. Blair will be suited up again. If you're interested in going to tonight's game, tickets can be purchased online through the Steelheads' website.
My wife Cathy, and I would like to congratulate Blair and all of the Steelheads for their win last night. That was one of the best games I've seen in a long time, and the outcome was perfect! Good job!
