Wine Festivals Raise Beaucoup Bucks for Charities
Naples Winter Wine Festival and Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest Rank in Top Three
The 2013 Naples Winter Wine Festival ranked 1st, again, nationwide raising $11,880,000 for local children's charities according to Wine Spectator's list of top ten U.S. charity wine auctions. The Naples Winter Wine Festival has raised more than $110 million since it's inception in 2001. In case you are interested, the dates for the 2014 event are January 24-26.
The Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest, only just completing it's 5th year and the youngest auction in the nation, ranked 3rd in the same list raising $1,558,500 for The Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. The dates for the 2014 event are February 21-22.
Each event holds special vintner's dinner in private homes around the area including Naples, Port Royal, Bonita Springs, Miromar Lakes, and Fort Myers. One special auction item was a dinner and private concert for 100 people with LeAnn Rimes which sold for $1.1 million. The auction events are held at The Ritz Carlton hotel and Miromar Lakes Beach club house with auction items including guest TV appearances, special wine lots, trips to wine country, and a Ferrari to name just a few.
