Lawrence Yun Ratchetjaws the Same Smack
Thank you, David Saks of Memphis, for this excellent update on the recent non-newsworthy accomplishments of Dr. Yun. Realtors deserve better representation, and our image is challenged by the national jester.
Lawrence Yun cheerleads for the National Association of Realtors.
It's his job.
He did so recently in Memphis at the performing arts center in front of lots of real estate professionals.
He wasn't wearing ballet shoes.
He was juggling numbers like a Chinese acrobat juggles balls.
He was a mechanical engineer who decided to spend a couple of years studying the social science that deals with the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services known as economics, and got hired to do just that for NAR.
He also knows that thousands of National Association of Realtor members have resigned.
He knows that the loss of members equates to a staggering loss of revenue for the National; Association of Realtors.
That's easy math.
Yun cheerleads for NAR every chance he gets.
NAR signs his paycheck.
He paints a rosy picture for recovery for 35 minutes at every damned free croissant, bagel and coffee event he can work into his schedule.
And then comes the four-tiered juxtaposition of contrasting ideas that burn the market:
1. Higher Interest rates from the Fedral Reserve and America's Lenders
2. Joblessness
3. Policy Changes From Washington
4. Unequal Distribution of National Wealth
The usual scapegoats.
Yun believes that if you buy a home now you'll get appreciation down the road.
If you don't, you lose.
He's careful to mention that he's not exactly certain when these things will happen, but they will.
Yun's crystal ball must have a crack in it.
Yun's place is on Madison Avenue working with advertising moguls who create consumer buying frenzy directing buy one-get one free infomercials for non-stick cookware.
Not forecasting the economic direction of our nation.
