The Builders Association of the Hudson Valley held a Mini Home Show on Saturday.  A full house of homeowners joined in as Claudia Jacobs  presented “Fall Back in Love with Your Home”. Charming and knowledgeable, Claudia gave an hour presentation of tips on how to get your home to look and feel special and new again.  Have you ever felt that you were loved by your home? Claudia revisited this concept with some simple changes to rekindle the love again, like when you first moved in. 

The presentation discussed how to make good choices when redecorating, remodeling or getting your home ready to sell. Color, flooring, painting and even what to do with that old bathroom that screams an out of date color were a hot  topic. Sometimes just focusing on the good features can tone down what you are not happy with. De-cluttering a home is the number one thing to do when getting a home ready for sale. Agents frequently discuss this with clients, but not all of them listen. Those that do end up with a faster sale and for more money. Before and after photos in her PowerPoint presentation were a compelling way to convince even the most skeptical of why Staging is so important. When a buyer can see the rooms they can begin their love affair with a home. Claudia had some great recommendations to think about. The audience asked  questions and the answers created a lively discussion. Many attendees took notes and found her presentation most helpful. To be sure they will be back for more of her tips. They were already asking for additional locations and times that she was going to be offering more info. That tells me that they found the information quite useful!!

As the local Realtor invited I was able to answer questions for homeowners about value and market trends. There are quite a few factors that go into pricing a home, and that is where I was able to tie in the two professions. Understanding the numbers can save you a good deal of money. If you are looking to make improvements to your home a plan and budget are first and foremost. Knowing the current value of your home can help you with making these  important decisions.
