Why is the Front Door such an important part of your Home?
The Front Door is the first thing that people notice when they come up to your home. It makes a statement as to who lives there. It's a direct reflection of who you are. Your personality. and...It's a preview of what they will see inside.
If it looks neat and clean they will have a welcoming feeling as they come up to the door. If the paint is peeling or it looks unkept or drab it gives off an unsettling feeling.
Why should I care about what my front Door looks like?
As a homeowner looking to sell your home, first impressions mean everything.
A little paint goes a long way especially when it comes to the front door and the entrance. You want the prospective buyers to feel welcome. You want them to enter your home with a positive attitude that the house is inviting them in. Unkept front entrances that have peeling paint makes the prospective buyers think that the house is not cared for and they look for problems in the house. I see this time and time again. They say the house needs "too much work" even if it is only cosmetic.
Lets talk COLOR...What color should it be?
The jury is out on this one. Many experts believe that a house should have three colors. The body of the house color is one, the trim is the 2nd and the front door is third. Others say the front door should be the same color as the trim or the color of the main house. This really is a personal preference. It speaks to the personality part of the impression.
Next time you are out driving around, pay attention to the front doors of peoples houses. What color are they? What condition are they in? How does it make you feel when you look at the house?
Look at your own house with new eyes.. What do you see?
