Opening in 1969...George's Burgers and Insults in Cathedral City is an institution here in the Palm Springs area. George passed away, but his old boxing photo hangs behind the bar. His son Ed took over and has been flipping burgers and hollering at customers for the last 14 years.
It is a little off the beaten path and only holds about 20 people. The menu is mostly burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and chili. You can put ketchup on your fries, but be prepared to be yelled at if you put ketchup on your burger. You get it the way Ed makes it. And don't talk back, and don't complain, and don't ask for more than one napkin, or you will be shown the door! Kat, behind the bar, helps out Ed wrapping up the burgers and delivering them fresh and hot. They are incredibly good!
We stopped in today since my brother was in town... and I wanted him to enjoy the George's experience. Before we left, Ed was sharing car and motorcycle stories with my brother and making us feel right at home. His bark is much worse than his bite. And his burgers are the best anywhere!
