Spring has sprung and I am lucky to be here in LakeLand Village when it sprang! It is not just anywhere that you can wake up to the sun creeping up behind Mt. Rainier as it wakes up the foggy Olympics to the west. or see a newborn fawn stumbling through your front yard searching for a dew drizzled breakfast. Anderson lake is being stocked with trout and the kids in the neighborhood run down to catch a glimpse of them as they slip into the water and find their secret hiding place deep in the lake.
There is a lot to do too, if you wander a few blocks down the hill into town. Kayaks and Kones offers almost too many tasty options and I usually end up asking for a "try" of my husband's ice cream cone. He is the brave one and has even tried the Geoduck flavored sorbet!
The waterfront on NorthBay has a long dock to walk the dog. If you stand very still and look closely you can spy the star fish, bursting with color and shimmering in the sun sparkled waters, crabs jousting along the pebbled beach and jelly fish bobbing up and down, rocking to the waves.
I always go to Big Bubbas AFTER I walk the waterfront, so I don't have to share my french fries with the nagging seagulls. Then I stop by Top of The Cork for wine tasting and drop by the George Kenny's chainsaw carving store/classroom to see the latest masterpiece.
The market place has several businesses that we frequent and I can't go backup the hill without stopping by to say hi to everyone. And that includes Brenda at Allyn Liquor and gifts. She is one of my favorite people and always has a great story to share.
Once home, we open our new bottle of wine and kick back on the porch-snuggled in our Inferno hoodies with "Allyn by the Bay ~ Est. 1889" spelled out along the fronts.
It is then that we note the soft breezes beginning to blow through the richly scented evergreens and the call of our native critters welcoming the night, bringing the star sprinkled skies to life and making every moment unforgettable.
