When Losing A Buyer Client Is A Good Thing!
I hadn't heard from one of my buyers lately so I sent him a quick email tonight. It was almost 10:00 pm when I sent it and I was surprised when he called me right back!
Let me set the stage: He's a referral from the mortgage pro at my local credit union. We hit it off really good right off the bat. Not only did he demand from the get-go that he doesn't want to waste ANY of my time or money and that he'd drive by any and every house that I sent him to make sure he was still interested in it BEFORE I came out to show him, he also reminds me A LOT of my dad, who passed away in 2002. He even looks uncannily like him!
Anyway, he has a unique situation. He was injured on the job, collected a few dollars and is basically "retired" now. That puts a damper on what he can afford. We looked at probably 10 houses or so, put a couple of offers in, but never had any luck.
Skip ahead to the call tonight.
He said he's more than likely going to buy a co-op condo, and they don't pay real estate agents. Am I upset? Nope. Disappointed? Nope, again.
He's doing what he needs to do to make sure he's taken care of. He told me over and over that he's still floored by the service I gave him and said that he's "glad I'm not one of the fake agents that don't care about anything but the money."
That makes me happy. He also said that he's told 2 people about me in the last week and he wants to take me to lunch.
I didn't lose a Buyer Client. I gained a friend.
