Being a real estate agent is, at times, a humbling experience and rightfully so.

Arrogance has no place is this profession whatsoever and a huge ego puts clients in second position, not exactly the ideal place to be in a transaction. Our duties and responsibilities are to put our clients needs and wants above our own. That is the way I see it and the rest follows.

Does everyone always play fair? Not every time and we cannot control the actions of others, only our own. Respect for our clients shows in our work ethic, being prepared and the ability to help them realize their home dreams. Will we occasionally fall short? Yes. There will be times when all terms will not be met or negotiation efforts stall or tempers flare and emotions win rather than coming to a successful end.

Give up? No. Not a chance.

Determination to succeed plays a huge part in being successful in any business arena. Tenacity plays an even larger role when desired results become more difficult to attain. Passion is the life blood that most agents carry deep inside to continue to push them forward in any situation that arises. Trust in one's self is crucial to solidifying past and present relationships, whether personal or professional.

I have been humbled on more than one occasion in this profession and rightfully so, it keeps me grounded. Stretching beyond any boundary in order to increase my knowledge base is necessary to become a better agent, to better serve clients. Am I up for the next challenge that may come into play? Yes.

Are you ready?

Wanda, congrats on the feature. You're absolutely right when you say that there's no place for agent ego in the transaction.

Sales are not fair experience, it is about result.

Nevertheless, in real estate, we need to find out how can we create win/win situation between all parties involved. Each of parties has own agenda ( buyer to pay less, seller to earn more) and we need to find the solution to make all parties comfortable with results and.....create a trusting long term relationship ( magic:).

That's a nice looking pie. I'm so hungry. Arrogance usually is squelched with a slice of what your serving! Just when you think you know everything...

When I interview an Agent I want to hear that beautiful trait of tenacity show up.  I want to know that when they get knocked down and we all get knocked down that they can get up.  I can teach you how to show properties and I can teach you how to negotiate but I can't make you tenacious if your not.

Wanda, in the process of researching agent websites, I came across an agent's site who primarily lists million dollar properties. She has a beautiful looking website and based upon her bio and photographs of herself, she must have been a Miss America at one point in her life. However, not one word appeared anywhere on the website about the type of results she produces for her clients. As a matter of fact, there was a lot of "me" and "I" (referring to herself) but not one "you" (referring to the client). There wasn't even a property search option on the site. Just a contact form that she would be in touch. Wow, I guess she thinks a whole lot of herself. I'd be curious, if she gets many leads using this approach.

Not much humility going on there.

Sheila, We do get rewarded for doing a great service...repeat referrals. I do love my clients!

Nina, I prefer to chase rainbows not money!

Thank you and if you're ready, then here WE GO Al & Peggy!

Michael, The ability to continue the search will separate you from others who may think it is futile. Keep it up!

James, Yes, keep getting up and getting to, as long as it takes to gain success!

Richie, You know it's true...being genuine is indeed noticed and appreciated.

Charita, All it takes is some self-control but not controlling a situation at all costs! Some understand that and others...

Paula, Exactly!

Alexandra, What a great point! And so true...thank you for that!

Will, Haha! The photo was my attempt at Humble Pie...it really was a great pumkin pie though!

Hella, You are so welcome. Clients are too important for anything other than doing our best!

Ed, A reminder is a nudge in the right direction occasionally.

Harry, Clients know when they have the real deal and someone who haphazardly wings it!

Wayne and Jean, Oh yes! Keep on keeping on...for the right reasons!

Pamela, You are so welcome! I'd rather have happy clients than to be in control at all times...it is pretty stifling!

Ridhi, I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather do and quietly and at the speed of the client, that is. The best to you!

Graziella, I feel the same as you and lucky to be a part od something so wonderful! Wishing you the best!

Thank you Roger! And Thanks to whoever pushed the button!

Dinah, That statement rings true in any effort toward something as rewarding as the real estate industry!

Eric, I am glad you agree! It comes back to taking care with our clients and taking the ME out of the transaction.

Inna, There is no better feeling as an agent than helping to realize someone else's dream!

Greg, Haha! Homemade pumpkin can make you forget everything for a moment or two!

Liz, Your comment rings true! There have been agents who couldn't take the word 'NO' and use it constructively. I almost became one of them and then pushed through it. We make our way when we can rest the ego!

Tammie, Some people prefer to market themselves and not their abilities but it doesn't get them far for long.

Bill, I hope they learned something from it!

Great reminder Wanda. Whenever I'm on top, it reminds me that I'm only a couple punches away from having to work my way back up there again. And in this profession, it happens quite often.

Interesting. I always say "this is the best possible outcome given the current events and circumstances". Sometime we just have to do the best with what we've got at the time, right?

Wanda, ego's need to be checked at the door so to speak.  Clients don't benefit from it, the other agents or service providers don't benefit...just inflates that clients sense of self worth.
