FOXY INTERIORS INCORPORATED SERVING CENTRAL FLORIDA
HOME STAGING. REDESIGN. RENOVATION
One of the most common questions Foxy Interiors is asked is how to paint or add POP to architectural features of the home. The builder put them there for a reason; you love them. But the question is what color, which side, and why? Perhaps you created an open floor plan where there once wasn’t one and now you have these great big columns that are actually bearing (supporting the weight of your ceiling and roof). Also along these same lines are fireplaces and niches.
Perhaps you’re a DIY’er and you’ve got the entire situation handled…or do you (no pun intended)? You’ve got years of experience painting – four walls that is – and you have all these huge masses of bands, columns, recessed ceilings, fireplaces and niches but you’re stumped. You want to highlight them but which side first, what color and what is the reasoning behind your choices.
The architect that built your house knew how to incorporate elements that can really stand out and make you go WOW! I give your builder lots of credit because it isn’t the boring and mundane cracker-jack box of four walls to a room. Making your architectural elements stand out requires a trained eye and a methodology to make them POP! There truly is logic behind accenting these features.
Below are some examples of different types of architectural features. Two of the photos are bland neutral colors with no emphasis to be found. The third has been painted to express eye appeal.
You’re still a confirmed DIY’er and I know you can “try this at home”. Worst case scenario you can always repaint, or paint again, right? You do have other inexpensive alternatives though. Go ahead and make it easy on yourself.
Did you know that Foxy Interiors offers color consultations at $50 an hour? We can help you solve your dilemma of how to make your architectural features stand out. Whether they’re the result of creating an open floor plan or great design on the part of your builder, we will analyze the layout of your home and make recommendations so your architectural features are highlighted, stand out as the adorning design elements they were meant to be and, well, POP. As a compliment to this service, we can also provide images with the recommended paint colors so you can get a vision before the actual work is completed.
