some "upgrades" to my new Sprint Broadband card

There has been ongoing dialog over the past few months about the new broadband cards for laptops.  I love my card and couldn't really do my business efficiently without one.

I was in Chicago this past week at the Master Sales Event hosted by Floyd Wickman.  I was on the 10th floor and figured my broadband card would work perfectly.  Nope, it would hardly pick up a signal!  I had to go down to the first floor lounge to get a good signal.  Fortunately for me, the Pantech card I have from Sprint has an external antenna adapter that I can use with external high-gain antennas. While there working, I went ahead and ordered a new 9DB gain antenna that I can use in the car or in places with bad signal strength.  Here is the one I purchased on ebay.I received mine in the mail just yesterday and I have been testing it while out and about in my MDX.  It has really made a difference, I can get a good signal in places I never could before.

What's even better is this new antenna can use different adapters, so I can just purchase an adapter and be able to use this on my Treo 700 with an external antenna.  I've never really needed this, but you never know when you might.

Craig,

Can you share how much it cost to get a card like this?

You dont have to be exact.  I use Verizon in Florida.

Thanks

Mario

with shipping mine cost about $43 bucks...I bought the highest DB gain version available, there is cheaper ones with 5db gains, but you won't get as far of a "reach".

And we were told Sprint was the best card out there.  I think as time goes on there will be more opportunities for better cards.

Thanks for the tip on the antenna.  I have the broadband card and would not be without it.
