Gaithersburg Annual Housing Fair, Saturday, April 27, 2013
The Gaithersburg Annual Housing Fair provides information on affordable housing options in the Gaithersburg area. Advice will be provided for renters as well as those that wish to purchase a home. Please note that registration is required for the two hour Affordable Housing Orientation. Those that wish to purchase a home with the use of mortgage financing should make an appointment with a mortgage lender to obtain a pre-approval letter before looking at homes. We will be happy to recommend lenders that participate in the mortgage programs offered by the Montgomery County Housing Opportunities Commission.
This is the official notice from the City of Gaithersburg:
The City of Gaithersburg and HIP Services, Inc., a non-profit housing counseling agency, will present a free orientation for first-time homebuyers interested in the City’s Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) and Work Force Housing Unit (WFHU) purchase programs during the 13th Annual Montgomery County Housing Fair and Financial Fitness Day. The fair takes place on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Avenue next to Gaithersburg High School.
The Gaithersburg Affordable Housing Orientation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. and will help buyers understand the opportunities and requirements of Gaithersburg’s MPDU and WFHU purchase programs. To participate in the program, buyers must meet income restrictions and may not have owned a residential property for a minimum of five years. Please note that this two-hour orientation does not satisfy the requirement that program participants take a homebuyer class prior to the purchase of an MPDU or WFHU unit. To register for the free orientation for first-time homebuyers, please contact HIP Services, Inc. at 301-916-5946 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Designed for renters, homeowners and anyone with housing questions, the Housing Fair features information about housing programs and resources in Montgomery County, as well as eligibility for federal and state-level housing assistance. Other services include:
