Boy this is so important. Thanks for the thump on the head. I am seriously considering installing the app that disables our family phones when we're driving, eventhough it will also disable passenger phones.

Texting while driving is against the law. So is trying to read emails on your cell phone. This year, the General Assembly made it a primary offense to text while driving, meaning that is all that a police officer needs to see to pull you over. Fines were also increased from from $20.00 to $125.00 for first offense, and $250.00 for second offense. Loudoun Sheriff Mike Chapman reports 11 crashes this year have been directly related to drivers who were texting while driving. See public service video below by Loudoun VA Commonwealth Attorney Jim Plowman and Loudoun VA Sheriff Mike Chapman.

Texting emailing or even talking on the phone can be lethal.  Here in VA the driving conditions change from one second to the next you need to be in the moment when driving so you can be where you need to be in the end.  So many times I have almost been hit be someone talking or texting and they never even knew what they did, I just hope that they and the other drivers on the road with them fared as well.
