RICHIE'S SNOW CONES HOT DOGS & DRINKS

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with people first...then business Ran Right Realty 636943 licensed to thrill

In between times, I used to sell hot dogs, snow cones and drinks from a little cart that I would drive around town. I had my favorite spots and they expected me daily. I also used to do special occasions and the YMCA was a favorite stop. The kids love it and looked forward to having their hot dog with whatever they wanted on it, a snow cone, bag of chips or a drink

NONE BETTER COULD BE HAD ANYWHERE

I prided myself on carrying the best meats, sausages and breads. But I didn't stop there. I had the freshest and best condiments your money could buy. My mustard was top of the line PLUS I mixed it with pickle juice which gave it a custom after bite and taste. A real nice kick to a sandwich. Onions were fresh cut and perfect sized for the sandwich. My relish, mayonnaise, jalapenos, pickles and ketchup were all premium

TRUCK STOPS

I had trucks stops where the truckers would all order two massive dogs or sausages topped with everything followed by their choice of a large snow cone with fresh milk and syrups. My ice was blue and clear and just the right size for either slurping or crunching. It got to the point where I had to carry around six fold-able chairs on top of my cart because people-liked to sit and jaw while eating

SNOW CONE FLAVORS

I had 10 famous syrups of flavor for my fresh snow cones and upped that to double the choices. Kids and adults couldn't make up their minds on what flavor to have. I constantly had to advise which flavors complimented when mixed and which destroyed. People wanted to try them all.

CROWDS FORMED PEOPLE ATE

I used to pull into places and sell out in an hour or two. Other places it took about 6 hours. People love these little carts and I knew they would flock to me. I just wanted to serve the best foods so that they had a premium experience. Good money, good times and the simplicity of life itself.

DOLLAR DOGS

I carried dollar dogs for the kids and the less fortunate. Then, a premium choice and then a super tasty I'll have another type dog. Buns were steamed, dogs were boiled and what many don't know is that if boiled in a beef bullion boiling water, the dogs flavor increases 6 fold. As a further bonus, the smell permeated the air, the looks, the pricing and then the taste topped off by the experience. A poor man can step up and feed his large family well for under ten bucks and walk away proud and content

MAKE YOUR OWN

I let people fix their own toppings. You weren't supposed to but I wanted people to make their own and some people went all out carefully taking their time to build a sandwich of their liking. This is what you expect from these little carts and places. The personal touch or experience. A dog with everything on it not only looked good, but tasted wonderful too. Made the sandwiches twice their size when piled on

OSCAR MEYER FLAGGED ME DOWN

I was once followed and then asked to pull over by a man. I did. He said he worked for Oscar Meyer Wiener and wanted me to appear at all their shows. I would be given an exclusive with the understanding I serve their product. This meant a guaranteed income of $2-4K per day for any event attended. The problem was the logistics of it. They wanted me to travel distances and it was too much to go on the road with this to faraway places.

THERE'S RICHIE...and off we go

I got to know people in the neighborhoods where I went and they knew me. Sometimes I bought people a dog with everything no charge. The looks on their faces stay with me today. I met cops, criminals, stopped crime, helped people, made friends, heard stories and I have stories galore after two years of carting around. Richie's Snow Cones, Hot dogs and drinks...

Hella...I wanted to have some fun and explore life up close and personal. I always enjoyed good hot fast fresh food and it was a good way to fill in some in between times...What pulled me into Real Estate (again) was a friend of mine who wanted to start up a business and needed my help. I parked this, and got back to work. I would be still doing this today if it didn't burn in a fire...$20k dollars up in smoke no insurance too

My food was so good I had to discipline myself to not eat it while smelling it, fixing it and watching others eat and ask for another...Sometimes I broke down and had two with everything followed by a lime snow cone...

Roger...I wont be back this way again...but I was and am here now. That is my story among the trillions that have come and gone....Roger, its now or nevermore and there is so much to taste of life. Pick any direction and head into the wind...the heart will follow and life supplies the marrow, the sustenance...thank you for joining me Roger

Tom...yes and if I missed a day, they let me hear about it. My cart was well known and the health inspector used to eat there...two with everything was her favorite...Everyone in business was scared of her...Me, I showed her what good food was all about....I was welcomed by all and probably waived to more people than a flag when traveling the roads...

Hello Mark and it is my pleasure to honor your request...I got lots.. LOTS....here is a crime prevention one and here is also an interesting one too.

...I saw a homeless man assaulting a young girl coming home from school across the street from me. He first pulled off her backpack from her back and then he pushed her very hard..WHOA. The girl became submissive and very frightened. I yelled..HEY YOU..YOU yea YOU and he screamed and cursed me out while coming toward me instead of the girl acting crazy and determined. I put on some gloves and ran over toward him and took a fighting stance. He was a hard man not afraid and willing to bet it all as he had nothing to lose. I am not a fighter or an aggressive person but I don't have fear or allow nonsense in my presence. I also was super strong from lifting 3 cases of of soda stacked on top of one another every single morning plus I was stacking fresh bread trays at SAM's club 3-4 at a time daily afternoons oh for about a year now. My forearms and biceps were naturally developed, hard and strong all the time. These were not gym muscles but real life body movement muscles. I could lift a man up and throw him across a room. Check the pictures again and look at my biceps....I knew this without a doubt...THIS MAN WAS ABOUT TO KNOW THIS TOO. He became aggressive and attacked me all out..I hit him and I knew it hurt him because I felt the full force of his face on my fist and I didn't absorb that blow..his face did. But he stayed his course although he wobbled badly. When he wouldn't back down, I hit him a second time..this time very HARD just to be sure to end this quickly and he let out a scream that would scare Stephen King....holding the side of his face and started running away. I yelled don't ever come back this way again. Got the girl on her way home. She never stood a chance. The whole neighborhood turned out and a retired Marine pinned me with his Sergeant stripes thanking me profusely...Word was out it was safe if the Hot dog man was there....AND IT WAS...Eat your dog in peace...cops nodded when they went by.

Of interest...

One decent fellow who just got out of the military who was a trained killer with confirmed kills, hand, gun, knife and sniper deaths was trying to get his head back. He had been to priests, psychologists and other sources to get the thought out of his mind on how to kill someone quickly and without hesitation...That's how well he was trained. He felt like having hot dog and we talked and got to know each other rather well. He starred at me for a second or two while we were having a nice conversation and I politely asked him...what were you looking at just now. He declined to tell me. I probed and he came clean...he said..I was looking on how I would kill you if I had too. I said can you share with me and he said it would a hit to one of three places in my head area...He desperately needed help to come back to civilian life. He served his country well enough..I never forgot him. He just had to learn how to use that training differently now that's all...

You must have so many more stories to tell. We had a friend who was a teach who left his career and decided that owning a "hot dog" truck was what he really wanted to do. He moved his family down south and never looked back at teaching...True story!

DO IT NOW...THERE IS NO TOMORROW

David...you probably spoke for thousands in your comment. People would pull up next to me in traffic and want my attention. Children would point, smile laugh, get excited and stare. If I acknowledged, their day was complete. It was like going to see Santa, sitting on his lap and telling him what you wanted...Such a simple thing brought so much happiness...amazing

Hello Larry & Sheila...There was something about this "hot dog" adventure of mine...It has the ability to help connect to reality in a way that TV, movies, workplace etc. cannot. It also brings out a servitude within the person (very satisfying)  and we are reminded that we are here to serve and not be served...Christ demonstrated this point quite well....Yes to your sharing of a worthy comment and I walked in your friends shoes or he walked in mine...Good stuff

Roy...I marvel that within every person are the same untold stories and experiences no two alike but all similar. It boggles the mind..May every flower continue to whisper sweet mysteries to you. Not everyone is invited into that world....Apparently they find you of interest too Roy
