Thanks to a couple of very special member of the Active Rain network I found out I needed to call and check on my family in Tennessee.  I normally have a cup of coffee and check my e-mail in the mornings, and this morning the was a message to all group members of Family Ties from founder Jason Crouch.  He was telling everyone to be sure to go to a post that Vanessa Stalets had done asking all Active Rain members and Realtors to please check in to let everyone know they were alright.  There had been devastating tornadoes that had just ripped though TennesseeI live in Katy Texas, and don't read the newspapers and watch very little TV news, so had it not been for these two very caring Active Rain members I would not have know I needed to check in with my family who live in Savannah Tennessee.  I reached my cousin Tommy Wolfe, who told me everyone was OK, but it was bad.  Tonight he sent me these pictures from the area around were they live.  You can see some of how bad it was.  I have meet some really nice people since I've been on the rain for about a year.  I owe Jason and Vanessa a BIG THANK YOUThe fokes in Tennessee need our help right now, so go to the sight below to see what you can do.

THESE ARE A FEW PICTURES OF THE STORM DAMAGE DONE IN ONE COMMUNITY( CERRO GORDO) A LITTLE WAY FROM HERE.  I DON'T HAVE PICTURES FROM THE  CRAVENS AREA DAMAGE. THIS IS AN AREA ON THE RIVER  WHERE ONE OF THE OLDEST BUILDINGS IN THE COUNTY WAS DESTROYED.  YOU CAN ALSO SEE MANY OF THE HOUSE ALONG THE RIVER THAT WERE DESTROYED.   Very sorry for the picture problem...It took me several times of trying a million things, gave up and finally ask my cousin to send some more to me in a different format.  Hell of a storm I guess requires a Hell of a time getting the pictures to show up!  Here they are, as they say..."A picture is worth a thousand words".  So much lose of lives, homes, it's hard to imagine how scary and heartbreaking it is for all those people.

A BIG TEXAS THANKS to two very special Active Rain member.  Liz Carter, Liz Carter & Team Realty, Katy, Texas

Thanks for posting the photos, Liz.  What a tragedy.  I have only one loved one in the area and was finally able to reach her yesterday afternoon to find her and her family doing well.

It's critically important that people DONATE BLOOD, too!

Liz, glad you were able to get the photos back online. WOW, the power of Mother Nature can be devastating. I did hear about the little boy they found alive yesterday, if there can be anything positive in this situation.

Thank you for sharing, my prayers and heart go out to all the families who experienced losses of any kind.

Liz - Tragic pictures, so sad how many families are/will be affected by this.  We went through a couple of the hurricanes when we lived in Mississippi.  We were in CA when Katrina hit, it took weeks to find out if our friends were OK.  People from there were calling us on cell phones to get news, Fema numbers, etc - they were without power for so long, and could only charge their cell phones in their car, till they ran out of gas.  Only the ones with laptop/cell service could get online and that wasn't a popular service then.  We stayed online for a week.   I am glad your family is OK.  -Virginia  (I am flagging this post)

Hi Cathy, you must have been close too, did you have much damage in your area?  Liz

Hi Elenor, thanks for stopping by, I hope they get the help they need.  My family that lives there and took the pictures are all fine, thank God.  Liz

Hi Amanda, glad to hear you family made it with no damage too.  We have to deal with hurricans here in Texas, especially in the greater Houston area were I am.  We are so close to the gulf of Mexico, but have never been through a tornado.  I'm sure it is just as scary.  Liz

Hi Vanessa, thanks again for your post, or I would not have know to even call.  I just don't watch or read the news, it's all bad and depressing.  You are doing a great follow up job too, getting help, and writing more.  Look forward to getting to know you better.  Liz

Hi Duane, thanks for taking the time to come back.  I almost quit trying to get them posted, it took about 5 hours to work out the formating ):, but glad I did now and hope it helps.  Liz

Hi Virginia, thanks for the flag :), wow!  I'll try to get some things to you on building up your business.  Hard to believe there are that many agents in such a small market...I feel for you.  I've been through some very bad hurricanes, killer hurricanes, and it's no fun without food, water, gas, not to mention loosing your home (had mine burn to the ground one night), or the worse a loved one.  Liz

Hi Bob, nice talking to you today.  Prayers of everyone is always a big help in my opinion...keep-em coming.  On the other subject, I will need to speak with you again.  Liz

Okay, I'm supposed to be going through the Texas Real Estate post but got sidetracked with this one.  Wow that makes it real doesn't it.  Having grown up in Kansas I have a healthy respect for tornadoes.  They just pick and choose no rhyme or reason, very sad.

Hi Cindy,I'm sure it is.  I've never been through one, but have had my fair share of major hurricanes.  Mother nature can be awesome and terrifying, beautiful and ugly, it's a catch 22 it seems.  Make 08 great, Liz

Liz, thank you for taking the time to share these photos.  Like you I don't watch much t.v, so the pictures helped me realize how bad those guys have it.  I think it has been great that AR allows us to share other members of our Realtor family's joys and trials.  Keep up the great work.

Thanks Sondra, you sound like such a nice person, I added you as an associate just now.  I have a lake house on Lake Limestone and come up Hwy. 6 and turn off at Navasota.  I guess you know this area?  You will be a good contract if I have someone headed your way.  The church contest should be a piece of cake for you there are so many beautiful old historical churches around you area.  L
