What did you think of the New Orleans episode? I am a huge fan of the show and was looking forward to this show since the beginning of this season. I don't know if my expectations were too high. I was disappointed.
It seemed like they really concentrated on the negative. My daughter has a friend in Oregon who thought that there were still places that were under water! The New Orleans area has made a lot of progress. Yes, we have a very long road to recovery ahead of us. After watching the show, I would have NO desire to visit New Orleans. Even the places he went didn't look appealing. The rest of the nation needs to know that we still have lots of damage, but the main areas tourists go are up and running.
I recently heard a report that our restaurant industry was on it way back to pre-K numbers. Most of the old classics are back and thriving. Mandina's, one of my old favorites, even opened a second restaurant in Mandeville. There are entire books dedicated to New Orleans restaurants. I know that Anthony's whole deal is to show the places locals go, but really, I feel he failed even doing that justice. I wish he would come back and do a more positive show!
I appreciate that Anthony came to New Orleans. His heart was in the right place. He probably wanted to remind the rest of the country of the horrible damage the levee failures and hurricane damage caused. I was hoping he would show more of the wonderful things New Orleans has to offer.
Were my expectations just too high? What did y'all think about the episode?
