Fort Myers Beach, Florida, also known as Estero Island, is a unique Island village. Seven miles long, it is an intimate small town and at the same time a favorite destination for people from all over the world seeking a beach community for their vacation. As a resident of Fort Myers Beach for over 13 years, I still don't take for granted the very basics that draw visitors to our Island:

Waking up to the sound of birds. I've read that more than 300 bird species may be seen on our Island.

A white sandy beach where the options are many: relax in the sun, walk your pooch or ride your bike, collect seashells . . . . My husband and I always enjoy it when we are able to stroll on the beach at sunset and admire the old beach cottages that still may be found on many sections of our shoreline, and most often, our pooch, Mimi, accompanies us. We are a Pet Friendly Island.

Charming beach pubs where you may hear great local musicians and from many of these establishments witness an indescribably vibrant sunset.

Times Square with its boutiques, restaurants and family entertainment.

Matanzas Pass Preserve containing 1.25 miles of trails that wind through the canopies of mangroves and an oak hammock. An amazing place for a walk and bird watch, there is also a native Blueway Paddling Trail to paddle and enjoy the beauty and peace of the preserve.

I wish I was ready to retire. I'd put a bid on this property myself.

Having been to Fort Myers Beach, I know how lovely it is!
