What do you do when you pass by a lemonade stand?
How does it make you feel?
And the big question......Do you stop to buy some?
Of course! Each and every time!
Today, the lemonade stand was in Valley Park. There were 4 adorable little girls marching up and down the sidewalk between their houses and the surrounding neighbors' homes, handmade signs held high above their heads. Giggling and chanting, "Lemonade for sale --- lemonade for sale!"
The selling point that really caught my attention was, "No Refunds!" (It was easy to see these business women weren't new entrepreneurs!)
There were several things that these young ladies 'got right'. First, they were energetic in their marketing. They understood instinctively that word-of-mouth was the best avenue for their product. They were friendly and kind while serving their special concoction.
The packaging was top-notch.....and environmentally sound. (No throw-a-way Dixie cups here!) The pink straws were a nice touch, too.
Most of all, the girls understood the importance of showing the customer some love. How could anyone be grumpy after seeing "Thank You!" written inside of a heart?! Hands down, the followup message was the BEST part of the entire experience, for me. It was directly from their heart.....literally.
Have a happy day, everyone. Don't forget to stop to smell the flowers......or at the very minimum, take the time to stop and buy some lemonade. You just never know how one small action on your part will mean the world to someone else.
As I walked back across the street to my father's home, I could hear the excited girls talking about all of the money they had just made.
They were thrilled!
(just please don't tell them that I don't even really like lemonade!)
"When life hands you lemons, make lemonade and lemon pie......That may sound trite, yet what I mean is that when something happens that takes you down a different road than you had planned, you need to take control of the situation and turn it into something positive. What may look like a catastrophe can end up being a wonderful opportunity." ~Anne White
All that and more...for 50 cents per cup. Priceless!
