GETTING YOUR HOME READY TO SELL WITHOUT SPENDING A FORTUNE

If you have been thinking of putting your home on the market, this is the time.  We are experiencing a wonderful real estate market and so stop thinking and get going.

You can prepare your home for sale without breaking the bank.  You don't have to put in a new kitchen or bath to sell.  There are some home improvements you can tackle without spending a great deal of money.

1. Anything you are not taking with you, get rid of now.  That means not only the living space but the attic and basement too.

2. If you have way too much furniture but can't face giving it away.  Call a storage company and store it for a short time.  Nothing worse than walking around furniture in a crowded room.

3. Clean, clean, clean.

wash windows, clean grout, clean rugs and furniture, freshen curtains or replace.

4. If rugs are worn, remove if you have wood floors or replace.

5. If some rooms are in need of paint, then paint.  If you can drive a car, you can paint.  It is the cheapest and biggest difference you can make in a home.

6. Stand outside your home.

    Does it look inviting?

    Is the grass cut?

    How are the shrubs?

Is their some color, if not add some potted flowers.

Now check the yard, same thing goes.

Do you have toys or tools laying around?

Is your fence in good shape?

OK you are just about ready to go.  Now call an experienced REALTOR and price the home fairly.

Liz, these are all great "common sense" tips that every seller should be aware of and put to use.  Most of them cost little or no money and make a huge difference.

Liz, I still like the idea of getting free estimate quotes from professional staging companies who are licensed, insured, and have references. Someone who is selling does not often realize the time demands of preparing their homes for sale. This is not a weekend job, but often a project that can take weeks and even months. In addition, a staged home can often sell quicker and for a higher price. No Liz, I am not a professional stager :) However, I have seen the remarkable difference in many a staged vs other.

For those who can not see or afford professional help, your list is very important!
