On Becoming a local in Alexandria, Louisiana!  Yes, I admit it, I am not originally from the area and when you are in a mid-size community in the south, sometimes having not been a born and raised local can be a big detriment.  Not for me!  I was raised in the middle of Amish Country in rural Ohio and then migrated south for college.  After college, the south won out in the form of my husband who could not stand the cold weather!  Now, I find myself raising my family in the hometown of my husband and much to his delight seem more of a local in the Alexandria, Louisiana area then he is!  I particularly know how to cut through every neighborhood in town to get where I need to go.  

For my career in Real Estate, I find that this gives me an advantage and an extra value to my clients.  For those clients that are new to the Central Louisiana area, I remember clearly what it was like to be a newcomer; wait, that road leads where, and cuts through where??  I remember wondering when people would talk about houses in reference to who used to own them and asking, wait, I don't know the people you are talking about much less the house.  I remember wondering where to go for dinner, what school or daycare was best for my kids, even which daiquiri place is the best in town (you heard me, we have drive thru daiquiri places in Louisiana! Now who wants to come check out our Real Estate?).  I can help in the learning curve of a client that is not from the area and help them feel at home.

Now, having lived here for 10 years I am a Local in Alexandria, Louisiana.  I now know the history of the houses you pass by, the places to take your kids to play, what areas are zoned for what schools, and where you want to run the trails, streets or take a bike ride.  I am an active member of the community through various organizations and have gotten to know so many fabulous people in our area.  All of which have made me understand and love the real estate market that we live in.  I love this career and love helping both buyers and sellers, both life long residents of our Central Louisiana Area and newcomers, all with their real estate transactions.
