Gaithersburg Neighborhood Matching Grant Program
Every Gaithersburg neighborhood should be preparing to submit an application requesting funding for physical improvements under the Neighborhood Matching Grant Program. Previously the funds have been used for a variety of needs including community block parties. It is a good time to meet with your neighbors and community leaders to discuss specific needs for matching funds. If the sidewalk in front of your home needs repair or more street lighting is needed, now is the time to speak up.
This is the official notice from the City of Gaithersburg:
The City of Gaithersburg will begin accepting applications on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, for funding under the Frederick J. Felton Neighborhood Matching Grant Program. The program provides an incentive for neighborhood organizations to improve their communities by awarding dollar-for-dollar matching grants of up to $5,000. $60,000 is allocated for this purpose in the proposed Fiscal Year 2014 budget.
Neighborhood groups and associations have used these funds for such things as sidewalk enhancement, lighting upgrades, signage, fence replacement, parking lot enhancements, community block parties, and even neighborhood birdhouses.
Application forms are available below, additional information can be found at the Frederick J. Felton Neighborhood Matching Grant Program web page. The deadline to apply is Monday, July 15, 2013.
For more information on the program, please contact Monica Sanchez in the City Manager’s Office at 301-258-6310.
