What is Dogwood Winter in Clarksville

What is Dogwood Winter in Clarksville?

Dogwood winterIf you live in Tennessee the saying goes, if you don't like the weather, stick around and it will change. In Clarksville TN we just had a change in our spring weather.

Dogwood Winter in Clarksville came to town this week. It was evidenced also by the beautiful dogwood trees in full bloom that were wondering when the warmer weather will return.

What is Dogwood Winter in Clarksville? Dogwood Winter is a drastic change in temperature resembling wintertime weather. It could be dips down below freezing, snow, gray skies and cold blustery winds. Our temperatures in Clarksville dropped down into the 30's after being in the 70's and 80's last week. The wind felt like it was coming straight out of the north and it was time to take out the winter coats one more time.

Read what the Farmer's Almanac has to say about What is Dogwood Winter in Clarksville?

But if you don't like these cooler temperatures, stick around and it will change. Next week is supposed to be near 70 and sunny. That would be perfect weather to look for a new home in Clarksville. It's time to take advantage of those low rates.

Hi Debbie, We must be having "Dogwood Winter" in San Antonio too, since I had to go back a but on a jacket this morning before I left to go to my closing at the title company today. It got dark and looked like rain, but nothing yet, and we can sure use the rain. I hope your temperatures get back up into the 70s and 80s soon.

After all, it is Spring Time!

Sounds like the same type of weather around here Debbie.  I didn't realize it had a name.  I call it "Frustating Weather!"  :)

Debbie- we had something similar in Houston but rarely as drastic.  I absolutely love dogwood trees!  We used to go on the dogwood trail when I was growing up.  I have no idea where we went, I was so young, but I remember enjoying it.

Jared, If your dogwoods are in bloom it is Dogwood Winter. We have another one to go.

Kathy, I think they are simple gorgeous too. Their time is short though and we have to enjoy it while we can.

Absolutely beautiful.  Nothing better than seeing trees in bloom after or even while there is still a little snow around.  Great picture.

Sounds like the one thing you can say for sure about Clarksville is that you get all kinds of weather-don't know if you have 4 seasons but you definitely need a heavy coat.  The dogwoods are beautiful and I love the term 'dogwood winter'.

Chris and Dick, Dogwood blossom are so unique. I love this time of the year.

Joanna, Yes we have something for everyone. It will be hot, hot, hot before long and we will long for the cooler temps.

Bob, Had you ever heard the term before? I was wondering if we Tennesseans came up with it.

Hi Debbie-never a dull moment with the Clarksville weather, we occasionally, here in Seattle, have these temperature blips where you aren't quite sure how to dress when you leave the house in the morning. Enjoy!

Dogwoods are so beautiful!  I used to have them in my yard in Huntsville, AL.  But then again, I planted everything i could find that bloomed. Blooms are addictive!

Maryland dogwoods have also experienced some chilly nights.  Hopefully, spring weather is now here to stay. I planted tomatoes in our garden this week.

Debbie,  I recall that expression when I visited friends in Winchester, TN.  I also experienced being outside in the beautiful sun one minute and moments later huge clouds move in and dump a lot of rain.  Living in California all of my life ... seeing that was a very strange thing.  Not for those who live there.

Debbie, That sounds awful. Folks down here tend to get colds when the weather fluctuates to that degree. Stay warm!

Hi Debbie, I have two Dogwood that we planted two years ago.  Ours have not bloomed yet but soon.  It is chilly here this eve.  Must keep a sweater handy for these dips in temperature.

Love the Dogwoods Debbie. Here in Chicago Land it rained so much that certain places you cannot go, they have streets that are lakes. The police are sitting there with road blocks and waving you on. Traffic jams and angry people.

Your flowers really help.

I was checking out Des Moines as I need to make a training trip out there this week and saw 20's and 30's in April.

My Florida butt said it is happy with the near 90's here.  The trip can wait a bit longer.

Dogwood Winter, thanks for the new term Debbie, not much chance for Dogwood Winter here, we are still enjoying the real winter for a little while longer, however the weatherman said we may see the 70's next week.

Jan, The south is covered in dogwoods. It is just part of our spring.

Roger, It was supposed to be 69 today and my thermometer said 52. Brrrrrr.

Roy, Those tomato plants may need a little jacket or coat.

Silvia, I can't wait to see it. I have never seen an ugly dogwood tree.

Kathleen, It is our Tennessee talk and we have another winter to go.

Mark, I have sure been cold today with the rain and wind. Sunshine please come back.

Judi, I have a sweater or jacket near me always for those unexpected weather changes.

Noah, That's a lot of rain. Be careful and your blooms will come too.

Michelle, It is such a common expression here that I just wanted to share it with all of you.

Michael, You have great weather year round and have no need for dogwood winter.

Kevin, Stay where it's warm for another few weeks. We are cold up here.

Bob, Those 70s will be welcomed by all of you up north.

Hi Debbie, Always thinking real estate. Hope you have a great weekend.

Debbie, Of course I have heard of this and many other winters. It must be a country thing or being from Tennessee.
