I love green homes.

What a great idea to organize this tour. Kim, do you visit them during their  construction?

Brilliant!

Yes Inna,

As the tour is planned more than 6 months in advance many contractors can only guess where they will be in their construction. So some the the homes are known as a "behind the walls" tour. This is an excellent opportunity to see how they are constructed differently and especially the all important "envelope".

What a great idea and way to share useful ideas. We have a couple of green home tours here in Ct during the summer, a lot of work for the homeowner to open up their homes but nice.

Yes, David it is a lot of work for the homeowners. Can't blame them it's a bit of a hassle. It's mostly spurred on by the people who have been doing the work on the houses or if new construction, the builders. There have been some special homeowners who will pay to have their house on the tour just to get the word out that green is the way to go! We love their enthusiasm.

Very creative idea.  I am sure many people can learn from this.  Thanks for thinking outside the box!
