Falling is NO fun!

While attending a fundraiser for a charitable foundation a couple off nights ago, I managed to get one of my feet tangled in a chair leg.

Suddenly my life went into slow motion as I lost my balance and fell(or really on my arm and rolled) flat on my back.  Unfortunately I had tried to break the fall with my left wrist.  The result is a painful sprain.  I am lucky that it was not much worse.

The event overall was lovely.  The foundation that was created was done by a delightful 16 year old.  So, what were you doing when you were Sixteen?

She was a product of an abusive father.  Instead of engaging in a life of "pity me!", she has studied a lot and created a way to reach out to other victims of abuse.  The foundation is named Beautifully Made.  It has a website if you want further information.

The evening was filled with inspiration, songs of encouragement, a sit down dinner and a silent auction.  I hope it raked in some serious cash!

Aside from falling on my back, the entire experience was truly uplifting .

If what this young lady has accomplished is any sign of what the current teens can accomplish, the country is in better shape than I thought!

This young lady sounds like she is inspiration for all of us. It would have been so easy for her to give in to self pity. I hope the event was a huge success. So glad you weren't hurt any worse than you were.

Jeanne Upon seeing the title for your post, my heart jumped into my throat.  While working with the computer to actually sign in, I was reliving my last year's fall on June 25th. In my own house, on our own basement steps, due to my own speed most of me actually started down the steps.  the left leg did not. Long story made short from June 25th to July 17th swelling did not allow surgery. Then finally on that date the foot/ankle was dealt with.  Am still having situations using stairs--So-o-o as I was waiting to read about another's fall [your's] memories made me wince in sympathy.
Am aware that you are working with a bad sprain--but do know that, though you did not discuss it--the pain of the actual fall & the resulting pain of a bad sprain can be hard to deal with.
Am happy that you finished telling us about that young lady and to read about her successes. But in my heart of hearts I can emphasize with you and the physical effects of the fall.
I wish you well, I thank you for the report about that young woman & I feel your pain--seriously.
Take care & may CO be good to you in your healing time.
